Hey there. My name is Dimitri here at Knack, and today, we’re gonna dive into Knack’s medical practice management template. It’s a free template that you can try out.
We actually have it on our website for you to quickly install, because managing a medical practice efficiently can be a complex task. Whether you’re a practice owner, manager, doctor, or patient, having an effective system in place to streamline operations can make a significant difference. Knack’s free medical practice management software template offers a user-friendly solution that enhances practice efficiency, focusing on everything from patient appointments to billing, insurance verification, and reporting. This video tutorial will walk you through how to use this template to optimize your medical practice operations.
Understanding the Benefits of Customizable Software
Building apps in Knack can be done as HIPAA-compliant apps for data collection to ensure patient privacy. Before diving into the details, it’s essential to understand why Knack’s medical practice management software template can transform your practice. By choosing Knack, you’re not just getting an off-the-shelf product, but a customizable platform that fits your practice’s needs—whether that’s managing patient appointments or processing invoices. It’s designed to boost operational efficiency and improve accuracy, freeing up your time to focus on patient care.
Getting Started: Scheduling Patient Appointments
For this tutorial, let’s say you want to start by scheduling patient appointments and customizing fields based on your practice’s needs. First up, what we’re gonna do is install the app. Then from here, we’ll go over to the side, and you’ll see there are some appointments. It has the ability to take notes into account and connect that to the doctor and provider, as well as the invoices section.
I think the notes are always really important in doctor meetings, and if you’re gonna manage your practice well, you’re gonna need this. Let’s take a look at how the app actually operates. As you can see, I want to log in as a patient. So, for example, I’m going to use the test data that they have there.
Okay. Now you can see that there is a view of my appointments, the appointment history, insurance that I have on file, my emergency contact, and my own contact details. Okay. So let’s book an appointment for 10:00 AM to 10:30 AM for Friday.
And the place of service is going to be “In Office.” I want to be with Doctor Danny, and my insurance plan is going to be this dental insurance. I mean, company is going to be UnitedHealthcare. Alright.
So I’m going to submit this appointment, and you’ll see that inside the system, the form can be refreshed if I want to book another appointment. And you can see in the editor that this is essentially a form for the appointments/invoices and medical claims. Right? So if I go to the appointments/invoices here and go to records, you’ll see that on Friday, 12/20, there’s an in-office appointment for Jane Doe, the person that just submitted time for an appointment.
And then inside the system, you’ll see that there’s an appointment history right here, and it shows the previous appointments I have. But if I look at my appointments, it shows the future ones coming up. So we’re able to track whether somebody is actively in the system and has booked future appointments, their previous appointments, all of the stuff that you need—the insurance. I think this is really nice.
Exploring the Doctor’s Perspective
And that’s from the perspective of someone who is in charge of their own healthcare—they’re just setting up appointments and whatnot. But let’s talk about it from the doctor perspective. Okay? We’re gonna go into the preview of this from the doctor.
I’m going to preview this, and we’re gonna log in as the doctor to get a better view as to how this would work. We’re gonna log in here, and you’ll see that there’s a little bit of a different view here. It would show our schedule, the different patients that we’ve worked with—so Jane Doe, Catherine Jolene—and then the appointment history as well.
For example, this is previous appointments and whether they have paid their invoice or not. And from there, you also have prescriptions that you’ve written. You can see within these appointments, there are notes that you can add here as well, and you can edit that note later. As you can see, there was one here for a new shot in two weeks.
Then we can just go back to that other section if we want to get out of it and go back to appointment history to return here. There are some other views here as well. There’s one for the front office where you have the ability to look at the appointment schedule. So people in the front office would know what is being booked overall and can help you out there.
Comprehensive Overview for Practice Owners
You can see on this homepage, there’s essentially a view for patients, front office, back office, office manager, practice owner, doctors, and more. So for example, if I were the practice owner and just wanted to see an overview, I can absolutely go in there and look at it. You’ll see I have an entire view of everything going on as well as the insurance providers that exist for every single patient, the patient insurance specifically, the prescriptions that are being written, all emergency contacts, and medical coding. As you can see, this is a very great product because it’s HIPAA-compliant, and it has every single aspect and way to slice information possible inside of a practice management system that you’d want.
Conclusion and Call to Action
